The final 12 spots at 2026 Final X, presented by Kerberos Capital Management, will be solidified next week at the 2026 World Team Trials Challenge Tournament at Norton Healthcare Sports and Learning Center in Louisville, Ky., May 14-15.

Five brackets will be contested in Senior men’s freestyle and seven in Senior women’s freestyle. Each champion from World Team Trials will face the 2026 U.S. Open champion in a best-of-three series at Final X to determine the Team USA representative at the 2026 Senior World Championships. Final X takes place on June 19 at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Eight Final X matchups are already determined – men’s freestyle 65 kg, 79 kg, 86 kg, 92 kg and 97 kg and women’s freestyle 57 kg, 68 kg and 76 kg – which removes those weight classes from the Senior World Team Trials Challenge Tournament.

Athletes must qualify to enter the field for the Senior World Team Trials Challenge Tournament. To review the Senior World Team selection process in each discipline, including Senior World Team Trials Challenge Tournament qualification criteria, visit the Team Selection Criteria Page.

A list of qualified athletes in men’s and women’s freestyle for Louisville post-U.S. Open is available on themat.com. A complete list of current entries in both styles, as of May 8, is available below. More entries are expected over the next week.

The Greco-Roman World Team was established at the U.S. Open Championships last month in Las Vegas. As such, there will be no Greco-Roman competition at the Senior World Team Trials Challenge Tournament nor Final X.

The Senior World Team Trial Challenge Tournament begins Thursday, May 14, at 10 a.m. ET with preliminaries and quarterfinal matches. Semifinal bouts are set for 4 p.m. ET on Thursday. Finals in women’s freestyle start at noon ET on Friday, May 15, followed by the men’s freestyle finals at 1:30 p.m. ET.

Matches will be streamed live and will be available on-demand through FloWrestling. Live results and brackets will be available on USA Bracketing.
