Robert Hogan

Robert Hogan's contributions to wrestling were in many areas over a long and well-respected career. Bob was a varsity wrestling coach at his alma mater, Millville High School for 7 years. "Bob Hogan will forever be remembered as being a man from Millville and someone who put forth all he could to make it better." Bob is remembered by many as a mentor, coach, and educator who valued the highest qualities of leadership and sportsmanship. Bob was an active member of the NJWOA in South Jersey for 27 years. In 2000, Bob Hogan was the recipient of the coveted Richard Mirshak Award, as an outstanding official in the state. Mr. Hogan was instrumental in developing the Southern Shore Chapter (1981) of the NJWOA. As a wrestler he became South Jersey's first two-time state champion at 115 pounds in 1957 and 1958 while compiling a perfect record his last two seasons. He was also South Jersey's first recipient of the Outstanding Wrestler Award at the State Tournament. After graduating from Millville, Bob attended Rutgers University where he finished third at the EIWA Tournament. Bob then returned to Millville to teach Biology and coach both football and wrestling. Later he became the Athletic Director at his alma mater. He also coached the Millville youth wrestling program for many years and was extremely active in his community and his church (Second Methodist Church). The New Jersey Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame extends their congratulations to Bob's wife Sandra, sons Robert, Kevin and Bryce, for his induction into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, Class of 2018.
