Adam Pitt

In the summer of 2013, after experiencing episodes of dizziness, fatigue and general malaise, medical doctors found that Adam had five inoperable lesions/tumors in his brain, the largest on his brain stem. Diagnosed as Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, Adam's treatment would include aggressive chemotherapy infusions and physical therapy. After months of confinement in a bed during chemotherapy, Adam looked at his physical therapy regiment as a personal challenge. From standing, to ten foot walks, Adam continued to "train", as he would say to those around him, getting stronger each and every day! Very soon Adam was producing videotapes of his most recent accomplishment - pushups, leg lifts, etc. Adam's will to fight led to the formation of the "TEAM PITT" foundation in the Chattahoochee community. Following Adam's example, the Chattahoochee wrestling team used "Team Pitt" as their battle cry to remind them that they were competing for more than just themselves, proudly displaying the slogan on their team singlets, warm-ups and spirit wear. After some extended periods away from the classroom during his illness, but staying as involved with the Chattahoochee team as possible, Adam returned to school in the fall of 2015, only to receive news, after a routine checkup, that he would require intense radiation treatments due to additional growth of some of his tumors. He was in and out of treatment, in and out of doctors' offices for much of that school year - not in the classroom as he had hoped. Many people would have become discouraged, but not Adam. He fought through this ordeal, even getting to spend some time with the Chattahoochee team. At the 2016 GHSA state tournament that year Chattahoochee had its best team finish ever - second place- with five medalist and two state champions. Adam was mat side to help one of those state champions, his son Jordan, claim the top prize at 120 pounds. Adam has since returned to work, continuing to help in the wrestling room, in the weight room with pre-season conditioning, in the hallways as a recruiter and as an example of inner strength and courage to all those who know him.
