Tim Ottmann
A native of Albuquerque, New Mexico and a graduate of the University of New Mexico, Tim Ottmann has made a strong impression on wrestling in Colorado.
He began his coaching career at Burgess High School in El Paso, Texas (1983-1990) and was the head coach at Ponderosa High School from 1990-2008.
He has retired from coaching but continues as an assistant principal and athletic director at Ponderosa.
Over the course of his career his teams compiled a dual match record of 200-26 while winning 10 region titles and eight Class 5A state championships, including six in a row from 2003-2008.
He coached 25 state champions and 96 individual place-winners, including four-time champion Jacob Snider and three-time champions Andy Etzen and Scott Frohardt.
His awards are numerous. He was named the Continental Coach of the Year 13 times, Colorado Coach of the Year three times and the Colorado High School Wrestling Hall of Fame Coach of the Year twice. He was also the National Federation Southwest Wrestling Coach of the Year in 2005, the Region Six Coach of the Year twice, and the National Federation National Coach of the Year in 2008.
Eleven of his former wrestlers are now involved in coaching.
