Terry Conover
Terry Conover came to Pennsylvania from Annandale New Jersey, where he was a three sport athlete. After a successful high school wrestling career, he attended Western Maryland College where his college career record was 40-8-2. After his graduation in 1970, Terry stayed at Western Maryland as a grad student and coached wrestling for his college coach Sam Case, who took a sabbatical. In his first year of coaching, he had an 11-6-1 record and placed all ten wrestlers 3rd or better at the Mason-Dixon Tournament. After the 1970 season, Terry came to Hanover High School as head wrestling coach and this became the home for Coach Conover for the next 37 years. His wrestling accomplishments at Hanover netted him a total of 40 Coaching Awards including AA Coach of the Year in 1996. His Hanover wrestling teams compiled a record of 561-219-2 and Hanover was represented at states 31 out of his 37 years. Terry retired from teaching but couldn't stop coaching. He is now a volunteer assistant at Spring Grove High School where he helps one on his former wrestlers, Tony Miller. For his passion of wrestling and his long time commitment as a wrestling coach, he is being honored with the "Lifetime Service to Wrestling" Award.
