Eugene Ramos

Eugene's career as a wrestling official spans 40 years from 1960-2000. He also was a Washington State Wrestling Rules Clinician for 28 years, 1970-1998. Eugene officiated at 29 state wrestling tournaments and 3 NAIA National Wrestling tournaments. He was named the National Federation Officials Association Wrestling Official of the Year in 2000 and was inducted as a contributor to the Washington State Wrestling Coaches Association in 1993. Eugene was the head state wrestling tournament official 25 times. He developed the evaluation form used in Washington State to evaluate state tournament officials in 2007. While a special education teacher in the Selah School District for 31 years, Eugene started the wrestling program at Selah Junior High School in 1975. He was the assistant coach at Selah High school from 1988-1993. His teams place 2nd and 3rd in state in 1990-1991. During his coaching career, he helped coach eight state placers, including two-time state champion, Jose Valencia. He also coached football, cross country, and track at Selah High School. Eugene was recognized for his dedicated service to the youth of the YVIAA by the Yakima Valley Interscholastic Activities Association in 2003. In appreciation of his leadership, commitment, and dedication as a wrestling official, he was recognized by the Yakima Valley Wrestling Officials Association in 2002-2003.
