Michael McCoy
Coach The late Michael Ellis McCoy was coach of South Dade High School for 14 years and a Florida Wrestling Association board member. He dedicated his life to wrestling and coaching young people. Mike's high school was the recipient of his dedication as he developed talent where there had been no talent. He took a small 5-A school and turned it into a state powerhouse. He coached wrestling until he died a week before the 1997 state championship. His greatest work was at the state club level where he worked with young children and made them believe in themselves. He served as assistant coach at the 1994 Cadet World Team tournament. In 1996, he was named Wrestling USA National Kids "Coach of the Year".
