Jerry Biller

Coach Dr. Jerry L. Biller arrived at Venice High School in the early 1970's. His presence was felt almost as soon as he arrived. The wrestling team was not competitive or taken seriously, and the fan base consisted of parents and girl friends. Within a few weeks, Coach Biller changed the mindset, not only in his wrestlers, but also in the school. In his first season, a record number of boys tried out, the bleachers were full, and there were cheerleaders. Jerry composed and distributed a Florida West Coast Newsletter in 1974, the first attempt to organize the west coast of Florida. The same year he hosted the first AAU State Championships in Florida. He has coached numerous AAU and USWA teams throughout the United States. Jerry has coached wrestlers representing Florida in 10 national tournaments and 3 international teams to Mexico, Panama and Venezuela. As members of the Venice wrestling club, his two sons were unbeaten in Florida Freestyle Wrestling Age group for ten consecutive years. They wrestled in over 90% of the tournaments held in the state.
