Janiak, Nette Will Meet at 2026 Final X, Presented by Kerberos Capital Management

The women’s freestyle 59 kg best-of-three series between Alexis Janiak, who was the Illinois winner of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame's Tricia Saunders High School Excellence Award, and Abigail Nette is another intriguing experience-versus-youth matchup at 2026 Final X, presented by Kerberos Capital Management, on Friday, June 19 at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.

Final X will determine the 2026 U.S. World Team in two international disciplines—men’s freestyle and women’s freestyle. In total, 20 weight classes will be contested, 10 in each discipline. The top two U.S. athletes in each weight class will wrestle a best-of-three series at Final X to determine the U.S. representative at the 2026 Senior World Championships.

In addition to Janiak, the field includes Tricia Saunders High School Excellence Award winners Everest Leydecker and Macey Kilty, and Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award winners Marcus Blaze, David Carr, Jax Forrest, Wyatt Hendrickson, Spencer Lee, Ridge Lovett, Chance Marsteller, Zain Retherford and Zahid Valencia.

10 Men’s Freestyle Champions Crowned at 2026 U23 Nationals

Ten U23 men’s freestyle champions were crowned on Sunday afternoon as the 2026 U23 Nationals & U20 World Team Trials wrapped up at SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio.

National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award winners who are champions are Bennett Berge, Matthew Singleton and Hayden Walters.

The 10 U23 division champions are in prime position to represent Team USA at the 2026 U23 World Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada, this October. The U23 World Team spot goes to the U23 national champion unless a higher-ranking, age-eligible Senior National Team member elects to take the roster spot.

Bommarito Claims Ninth Career Beach World Series Gold

POREC, Croatia - Three-time World champion Eliana Bommarito, who was the Michigan winner of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame's Tricia Saunders High School Excellence Award in 2022, went 4-0 in a five-athlete round robin to win a gold medal at the women’s Over 70 kg weight class at the Beach World Series Porec, which concluded on Sunday at the Zelena Laguna Resort in Porec, Croatia.

Two other U.S. athletes completed their competition on Sunday, with Keenan Graef placing fifth in men’s 80 kg and Sadie Evans placing fifth in women’s Over 90 kg.

Steveson Dominates in RAF 09 Main Event, Snyder, Woods Earn Titles

Olympic champion Gable Steveson, who was the Minnesota winner of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame's Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award in 2018, returned to the wrestling mats on Saturday night at RAF 09 in the heart of The Lone Star State. His 10-0 technical fall over Alexandr Romanov in the evening’s main event was a not-so-subtle reminder that Steveson’s still got it.

Other winners included Ridge Lovett, who was the Idaho winner of the DSHSEA in 2019, and Zain Retherford, who was the Pennsylvania and National winner of the DSHSEA in 2013.

Bowling IV Earns U20 Greco-Roman Silver at Trophy Adriatic

For the second-straight day, the U.S. collected a silver medal in the U20 Greco-Roman division at the 2026 Trophy Adriatic—Leister Bowling IV doing the honors on Sunday at Sports Hall Finida.

2025 U.S. Marine Corps Junior Nationals champion Will Scherer wound up in fifth place at 77 kg after posting a 1-2 record. Scherer fell 3-0 to Zalán Toplak of Hungary in the bronze medal match.

Five U.S. athletes dropped early round matchups and did not qualify for a medal match—Arvin Khosravy at 82 kg, Aidan Squier and JT Smith at 87 kg, Cittadino Tuttle at 97 kg and Trayvn Boger at 130 kg.

Dominguez Leads U.S. at Trophy Adriatic with Silver in U20 Greco-Roman

The U.S. picked up a silver medal from Caeden Dominguez and a fifth-place finish from Will Detar to highlight the first day of U20 Greco-Roman wrestling at the 2026 Trophy Adriatic.

Finishing in ninth place at 60 kg with a 1-2 record was 2026 U20 World Team Trials champion Manuel Saldate.

Bommarito Unbeaten On Day One at Beach World Series Porec in Croatia; Evans, Graef in Medal Contention

POREC, Croatia - Three-time World champion Eliana Bommarito, who was the Michigan winner of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame's Tricia Saunders High School Excellence Award in 2022, finished the first day with a perfect 2-0 record in the women’s Over 70 kg weight class at the Beach World Series Porec at the Zelena Laguna Resort in Porec, Croatia on Saturday. This is the second stop of the five-event Senior Beach World Series for 2026.

Sadie Evans has three matches scheduled for Sunday. She still has a chance to win a medal, based upon the results of her Sunday matches.

U23 Greco-Roman Division Finalized

GENEVA, Ohio – Max Black was named Outstanding Wrestler after storming to the 60 kg title on Friday in Geneva, Ohio, at the 2026 U23 Nationals and U20 World Team Trials, leading a dominant group of 10 U23 Greco-Roman champions that closed out the opening day of competition.

The roster includes National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award winners Aden Attao and Pierson Manville.

The 10 U23 Greco-Roman champions are now well-positioned to represent the U.S. at the 2026 U23 World Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada, October 12-18. The U23 World Team spot goes to the U23 Nationals champion unless a higher-ranking age-group eligible Senior National Team member elects to take the roster spot.
