SPOKANE, Washington – The first of three age-group U.S. World Teams has been established in women’s freestyle following an exciting morning session at the 2026 USA Wrestling Women’s Nationals.

Everest Leydecker and Jasmine Robinson were repeat winners in the U20 division, with Morgan Turner bringing home the Outstanding Wrestler award. Leydecker and Robinson are past U20 World champions, while Turner has a pair of U17 World titles to her name. 

The 10 U20 champions from Spokane have qualified to compete for Team USA at the 2026 U20 World Championships in Bratislava, Slovakia, this August. 

In the 55 kg best-of-three championship series, Leydecker racked up the points to defeat Marlee Solomon by scores of 10-0 and 11-0. She finished with a 6-0 record, all technical falls, while not giving up a single match point during the tournament. 

It was a similar story for Robinson, who took down Gretchen Donally in the 72 kg championship series with a pair of 10-0 techs. She outscored her six opponents by a combined 65-0 tally. 

Turner dominated one of the more anticipated brackets of the weekend that featured three age-group World medalists (Turner, Heather Crull and Jaclyn Bouzakis). She cemented her first U20 World Team by sticking Sarissa Tucker in round two of the 50 kg championship series. Turner finished her run with four technical falls and three pins. 

Two-time U17 World champion Taina Fernandez and 2023 U17 World champion Piper Fowler qualified for their first U20 World Teams. Fernandez earned a pair of technical falls over May Cuyler in the 68 kg finals. Fowler picked up a pair of gritty, decision wins over Jael Miller in the 76 kg finals. 

Other individual champions in the U20 division were Taylor Whiting at 53 kg, Karlee Brooks at 57 kg, Caley Graber at 59 kg, Bella Williams at 62 kg and Riley Hanrahan at 65 kg. 

Four members of the 2025 U20 World Team were dethroned on Friday morning before the finals. Abbi Cooper dropped a 13-8 semifinal to runner-up Aubree Gutierrez at 53 kg. Haylie Jaffee was pinned by runner-up Carley Ceshker in the 62 kg semifinals, then rebounded for third place. Daniella Nugent went down to runner-up May Cuyler, 14-5, in the 72 kg quarterfinals. Naomi Simon dropped her 76 kg semifinal to runner-up Jael Miller, 8-4. 

The USA Wrestling Women’s Nationals continues at 3 p.m. (PT) on Friday with the remaining U15 bouts, plus the 14U, 12U, 10U and 8U freestyle competition.
