USA Wrestling
A talented group of 26 U.S. athletes—24 men’s freestyle and two women’s freestyle—head to Nice, France, for next week’s Henri Deglane Grand Prix of France. 2024 Olympian Mason Parris and 2025 U.S. World Team member David Carr are the headliners for Team USA.
Parris, a 2023 World bronze medalist, makes his return appearance to overseas competition at 125 kg for the first time in nearly one year. He is coming off a gold medal win at the November 2025 Bill Farrell Memorial International held in New York City, after taking last summer off from active competition.
Carr will compete internationally at 74 kg for the first time since his fifth-place finish at the 2025 Senior World Championships in Zagreb, Croatia. He has medaled at three international events since 2024 and is a two-time age-group World medalist.
Other notable athletes making an appearance at Halle Des Sports Charles Ehrmann next week include returning champion Michael Macchiavello at 92 kg, 2021 U20 World bronze medalist Beau Bartlett at 65 kg, 2017 U17 World champion Will Lewan at 74 kg, three-time U23 World medalist Jacob Cardenas at 92 kg, and 2022 U17 World bronze medalist (in Greco-Roman) Coby Merrill at 125 kg.
Seven members of USA Wrestling’s Elite Accelerator Program will make the international trip. The EAP was designed to develop young athletes with Olympic potential at the USOPTC in Colorado Springs, Colo.
On the women’s freestyle side, two athletes from Presbyterian College are in the mix—Alyssa Mahan at 55 kg and Maddie Kubicki at 65 kg. Kubicki was a U20 World Team member in 2023.
The complete U.S. roster in both styles, and the delegation list, is available below.
The action from France begins on January 16 with the women’s freestyle competition. The men’s freestyle tournament follows on January 17. A Greco-Roman division will be contested on January 18, but the U.S. does not have an athlete entered. Each day of the event has a scheduled start time of 10:30 a.m. local time (4:30 a.m. ET) and will run through to completion.
A live stream of the Henri Deglane Grand Prix is expected to be available online through the France Lutte YouTube. Brackets and updated results will be shared when made available.
