Jason Chamberlain
Four-time Utah state champion Jason Chamberlain is the 2008 winner of the Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award. The High School Excellence Award, given in memory of Olympic and World Champion Dave Schultz, rewards wrestling excellence, scholastic achievement, character, citizenship, and community service.
Chamberlain compiled a career record of 191-2 with 98 pins for Springfield High School in Springville, Utah. He was honored as the state's Outstanding Wrestler as both a junior and senior and was chosen to participate in both the Dapper Dan Wrestling Classic and the Cliff Keen Dream Team Classic.
No slouch in the international styles of wrestling, Chamberlain won a junior national championship in freestyle last summer and finished as runner-up in Greco-Roman. He also finished first and fifth in freestyle and second and third in Greco in FILA Cadet competition. He was honored to be chosen as the 2007 USA Utah wrestler of the year.
Chamberlain also has played competitive soccer since he was seven years old. He loves spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping. He has spent countless hours serving as a volunteer youth wrestling coach and official and was a camp counselor for the Rulon Gardner summer wrestling camp.
An excellent student, Chamberlain maintains a 3.73 grade point average. He plans to attend Boise State University in the fall and is projected to wrestle 141 pounds.
