Bassett, Woods Square Off at 2026 Final X, Presented by Kerberos Capital Management

USA Wrestling
The established veteran against the up-and-coming star is on tap in the men’s freestyle 65 kg series at 2026 Final X, presented by Kerberos Capital Management. 2025 World bronze medalist Real Woods and high school phenom Bo Bassett square off for a spot on the 2026 U.S. World Team on June 19 at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
Woods earned his spot in Final X after winning bronze at the 2025 World Championships in Zagreb, Croatia. After appearing on the U17 Greco-Roman World Team in 2016, Woods shifted to freestyle and has medaled in each of his four international appearances dating back to 2019. Woods claimed silver at the 2019 U20 Pan American Championships. On the senior circuit, Woods earned silver at the 2023 Matteo Pellicone Memorial and bronze at the 2025 Muhamet Malo Ranking Series in Albania, which was followed by his World bronze medal.
Bassett’s high-octane offense pushed him to his first U.S. Open crown, punching his ticket to Final X. During his U.S. Open run, the Virginia Tech incoming freshman notched two pins and two technical falls across his five wins, including signature victories over Senior-level veteran Joey McKenna and 2026 NCAA champion Aden Valencia.
In international competition, Bassett has a pair of age-group World medals. He captured the U17 World title in 2021, where he also competed in Greco-Roman. During the 2024 U20 World Championships, Bassett won bronze at 65 kg. In 2025, Bassett earned gold at the Junior Pan American Games and the Bill Farrell Memorial International.
This will be the first Senior-level matchup between the pair, as they have not previously faced each other in a USA Wrestling event or an international tournament.
What’s at Stake?
Final X will determine the 2026 U.S. World Team in two international disciplines—men’s freestyle and women’s freestyle. In total, 20 weight classes will be contested, 10 in each discipline. The top two U.S. athletes in each weight class will wrestle a best-of-three series at Final X to determine the U.S. representative at the 2026 Senior World Championships.
Beat the Streets New York Annual Benefit
Final X will serve as the 2026 Beat the Streets New York Annual Benefit, the 16th BTSNY Annual Benefit to date. These unique electrifying events help BTSNY raise more than $1 million each year to support local youth wrestling programs, which empower young people in New York City. The BTSNY Annual Benefit after-party will follow the conclusion of Final X.
This will be the second Final X and Beat the Streets event appearance for both Lilledahl and Lee, following their head-to-head matchup at Final X last June. Lee won that series two matches to none.
