Winchester High School Honors Former Wrestler, Navy SEAL, CIA Operative

Winchester High School hosted its first Glen Doherty Memorial Wrestling Tournament on December 13, honoring the life and legacy of one of its own.

Doherty was an outstanding wrestler at Winchester before going on to serve his country as a Navy SEAL and CIA operative. He lost his life in 2012 while helping save 22 American diplomats during a terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya.

His high school wrestling coach, Larry Tremblay, opened the tournament by remembering Glen and reflecting on the courage, character, and selflessness he showed both on the mat and in service to our nation.

Glen's story is a powerful reminder that the lessons learned through wrestling can last a lifetime and sometimes, save others.

Doherty received the Medal of Courage award posthumously from our Massachusetts Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2013 while Trembly was presented the Lifetime Service to Wrestling award in 2014.

Proceeds from the tournament benefit the Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation. Learn more at https://www.glendohertyfoundation.org
