History & Homecoming Coming to Stillwater
Visitors to Stillwater will have a unique opportunity to experience three historical venues during History & Homecoming on Friday, Oct. 17.
From 1-5 p.m., prior to Walkaround™ during Oklahoma State University's Homecoming festivities, visitors will be invited to tour the Boone Pickens Legacy Experience, OSU's Heritage Hall and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame & Museum. All will be open and free to visitors of all ages.
Sponsored by Visit Stillwater, guests visiting all three venues will be entered into a drawing for a $500 American Airlines gift card, reminding Cowboy fans to #FlySWO on American through the Stillwater Regional Airport (SWO)!
All three venues are within walking distance of each other. The Boone Pickens Legacy Experience is in the west end zone of Boone Pickens Stadium. Heritage Hall is inside Gallagher-Iba Arena. The National Wrestling Hall of Fame & Museum is at the corner of Duck Street and Hall of Fame Avenue.
"Leadership of the three venues thought it was important to work together to give anyone coming to Stillwater for Homecoming the opportunity to visit the sites, each of which provide a unique educational experience," said Terry Tush, interim executive director for the Boone Pickens Legacy Experience. "Whether you are a fan of wrestling, OSU athletics or Boone Pickens, participating in History & Homecoming is a must on October 17."
"Homecoming weekend is one of the best times of the year to experience the rich tradition of Oklahoma State University athletics, and there's no better place to start than along Hall of Fame Avenue," said Lee Roy Smith, executive director of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. "We encourage Cowboy fans to visit the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, the Boone Pickens Experience, and Heritage Hall to celebrate the remarkable history and achievements that make Oklahoma State so special.
"OSU has produced more Distinguished Members of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame than any other university. OSU legends and Hall of Fame Distinguished Members Ed Gallagher, Art Griffith, Myron Roderick, Tommy Chesbro, Joe Seay and John Smith played instrumental roles in the growth of wrestling, both at Oklahoma State and nationally, and their legacy continues to inspire greatness on and off the mat."
