Barry Trent

Barry Trent joined the William Byrd High School wrestling team as an assistant coach in 1978, and became head coach in 1980, a position he held until 1995.

He had a career record of 163-70-1 and led William Byrd to the 1982 Virginia AA state championship, one of seven Top 10 state finishes.

Trent was named Timeland Coach of the Year in 1982 and received the Outstanding Sportsmanship Coach of the Year award from the Roanoke Valley Wrestling Officials Association in 1992 and 1995.
