Keith Swett
February 12, 1951 - September 09, 0024
Keith Swett was born and raised in Marshfield, Wisconsin.
While in high school, Keith earned letters in football, wrestling and track and served as the sports editor for the student paper. One of his feature articles earned second place in the Associated Press student writing contest for the State of Wisconsin.
At the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, Keith participated in football, wrestling and student government, serving as president of the Blue Key National Honor Fraternity.
In 1973, Keith started his career at Seymour High School, where he taught English while coaching football, wrestling and powerlifting.
In 1974, Jim Richie introduced Keith to the international style of wrestling and he became the head wrestling coach at Seymour and part of the Greco-Roman staff for the State of Wisconsin.
The next 24 years were a whirlwind of activity as both Seymour's folkstyle program and the state's Greco-Roman program grew prodigiously.
The odyssey continues as once young wrestlers return to coach and the finest of each new generation step out to seek new challenges. Together, like Ulysses, we join "to strive, to seek, to find, and to yield."
With the support of countless families, eager coaches, talented wrestlers and a supportive wife, the following accomplishments have been achieved: two conference team titles, four regional titles, 16 Top-10 team finishes at the National Junior Greco-Roman Championships, 39 individual regional champions, 11 individual sectional champions, 12 state place-winners, one state champion, 10 individual national Greco-Roman champions, and 86 Greco-Roman All-Americans.
