Dean Cordell Musser was born missing the lower portion of one leg. Most people would not have considered wrestling with this handicap. Cordell viewed his handicap as an advantage. "I don't have to worry about what leg they are going to shoot on, they can't trap my leg, so the short sit is always there." It was this type of attitude that saw Cordell become the first wrestler in Lancaster County to get 100 wins, while wrestling for Garden Spot High School. After high school, Cordell wrestled for Messiah College. During his high school and college-wrestling career, he was a three time P.I.A.A State qualifier as well as an NCAA National Tournament Qualifier. Dean returns to Garden Spot each year to award the "Keith Musser Inspirational Wrestler Award," given in remembrance of his brother, who lost his battle to leukemia while they were roommates wrestling for Messiah College.
