Rick Moyer

Rick Moyer is one of the most highly regarded high school wrestling coaches in Massachusetts. His association with wrestling spans over thirty-five years beginning in 1962 when, as a competitor at Springfield Collage, he was voted "Outstanding Wrestler" in the New England Championships.

Rick's career in coaching began during the 1962 season as the Freshman Coach at Springfield College. In 1963 he became coach for Amity High School in Long Island, New York where, over his 4 year term there, his teams compiled a 59-4-1 record. In 1968, Rick took over the coaching at Wayland High School and compiled an incredible "thirty year" record of 385-52-4.

During his career, Rick's teams have won 32 League Championships, 29 Sectional Championships, 3 State Championships and 2 New England Championships. Rick's list of recognition includes Boston Globe's "Coach of the Year" in 1984 and 1992, a six time recipient of Massachusetts "Coach of the Year" award, and National "Distinguished Coach of the Year" in 1996.

Rick is a past President of the National High School Coaches Association, past President of the Massachusetts Coaches Association, and a member of the coaches "Board of Governors" for 30 years. Rick has also received numerous recognitions from the MIAA.
