Joseph Geesey
Joseph P. Geesey is being inducted for his lifetime service to wrestling as an official. He did wrestle for Columbia High School and Millersville State College, but his greatest contribution came as an official. Joe's career as an official started in 1959 and he is still strongly at it in 2002. He officiates high school, as well as college. Joe has worked both the P.l.A.A. State Championships as well as the NCAA Division 1 Nationals numerous times. He has officiated NCAA Division qualifying tournaments for the last 25 years. He has been rules interpreter for 40 years and assigns officials for the EWL. Joe has served as President of the Eastern Wrestling League continuously since 1990. He has always been decisive and impartial, manifesting in each of his decisions his commitment to excellence and his deep love for our sport. Geesey has officiated the PIAA State Championships on 10 occasions and the NCAA Division 1 National Chan1pionships 10 times. During his career he not only worked the big tournaments he also officiated Junior matches for many years. In 2001, Joe was inducted into the Susquehanna Valley Chapter of The Pennsylvania Hall of Fame. Joe still resides in Landisville
