Leo Eibner

In his high school wrestling days Leo “Bo” Eibner was a Mason-Dixon Heavyweight Champion in 1957, and then continued he wrestling career coaching, officiating, organizing and contributing to the sport he loved.

He coached and officiated in Maryland for over 45 years.

Coach Eibner was the father of the Maryland Junior Wrestling League. He helped organize not one but four teams into this league and then served as president for the first six years and today the league has 22 teams.

He also was the founding father of the varsity wrestling program at Sparrows Point High School and coached this team for 12 years.

Coach Eibner has received numerous awards including a Governor’s Citation for leadership and sportsmanship during his career. 

For the past six years, despite being retired, he still finds time to volunteer for the wrestling team, specializing in beginners with limited or no wrestling experience.
