Mike Pedro

Mike Pedro, a 2002 graduate from St. John's Prep, wrestled under Coach Manny Costa. He was a four-year letter winner in wrestling and a two-year letter winner in football. He was the captain of his wrestling team for three years. He was a four-time state and regional champion and a two-time New England champion. He holds a national record with 54 pins in one season and holds the Massachusetts state record with 213 career wins and 61 wins in a season. His overall high school record was 213-7, which translates to a .968 winning percentage. Mike was also a 3x All-American. Mike went on to wrestle in Division I at Brown University where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Biology and Entrepreneurship/Entrepreneurial Studies in 2006. In 2002-2003, he took off the season after suffering a knee injury in the semi-finals of the Bearcat Open. In the 2003-2004 season, Mike placed third at Cortland Open, going 4-1. He also took third place at the Keystone Invitational, going 3-1. He went 2-0 at Las Vegas Invitational and went 9-2 overall on the year before an injury sidelined him for the rest of the season. In the 2004-2005 season, Mike posted a team best 17-7 record and earned an All-Ivy Honorable Mention. Mike continued his education at UMass Lowell where he went on to study physical therapy and then earned his medical doctorate degree from Saba University School of Medicine. He is currently working as the Chief Resident of Anesthesiology at the SUNY Downstate Medical Center. In 2010, Mike became the Co-Founder and Head Coach of Pedro's Wrestling Club in Wakefield, MA.
