Marv Hiebert
Marv Hiebert is recognized for his years of dedication to the development of leadership and citizenship in young people through the sport of wrestling
48 years of involvement with the sport of wrestling.
Officiated 41 years.
Marv Hiebert coached at Molalla high school for four years and his team placed fourth in the state tournament in 1954, and were co-conference champions in 1954 and 55. He started the wrestling program at David Douglas high school in 1955 and his team won the state championship in 1961 and placed each of the next three years. Coach Hiebert then started the wrestling program at Mount Hood community college, compiling a record of 22 wins and 4 defeats. He was active in the Oregon High School Wrestling Coaches Association serving as chairman and president. Marv not only coached, but also officiated for 41 years at all levels of the competition, including the state tournaments on six different occasions. He was elected as commissioner the officials and held that position from 1960 until 1974, and then was reelected in 1980 serving until retirement in 1996.
Marv Hebert designed a wrestling program to create interest and involvement with parents, students and the community, asking the wrestler to focus on achieving high levels of success. He gave a lifetime of service to the youth of America through the sport of wrestling.
