Ronald Hicks
Ron Hicks compiled impressive credentials in his 30 years as a high school wrestling coach. In six years as coach at Glide high school, his teams twice finished in the top five at the State Tournament and were back to back district champions in 1964 in 1965. In addition, he coached three individual state champions and served as athletic director for three years.
Hicks then returned to his alma mater, Roseburg high school, where he produced two state champions and won the 1974 team crown. Hicks served two stints as head coach at North Douglas high school, coaching one individual state champion. Hicks served as athletic director for 15 and 16 years at North Douglas.
Ron Hicks has left a lasting impression on the youth of America through the sport of wrestling. For those accomplishments and more the National Wrestling Hall of Fame- Oregon Chapter honors Hicks with the “Lifetime Service to Wrestling” award.
