Stech served as secretary of the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association wrestling rules advisory committee from 1966 to 1969 while also assisting at two Olympic Trials at the University of Wisconsin Madison.

He was associated with the Junior Olympic wrestling program in the Milwaukee area and served as co-director of the West Allis 16-team invitational wrestling tournament.

His teams won 91 of the 228 matches they wrestled. While not a winning record, the results are still the same, being an influential part of a boy becoming a man.
