John Tomlinson

John Tomlinson is recognized for his years of dedication to the development of leadership and citizenship in young people through the sport of wrestling. "¢ Only coach in history of Central Bucks East High School "¢ Posted 275 victories in 30 years "¢ Won four league championships The only wrestling coach in the history of Central Bucks East High School, John Tomlinson has coached his teams to 275 victories through the 1998-99 season and 4 league championships. He has coached 1 State Champion, 3 Southeast Regional champions, 15 District I champions and 15 state qualifiers. While attending Central Bucks High School, the predecessor to today's CB East and CB West, Tomlinson earned nine letters in football, wrestling and baseball and was a 3-time All-League honoree in each sport. He pursued his post-secondary education at Thiel College where he was a four-year letter winner in both football and wrestling. He was selected a Little All-American as a two-way starter in football and was unbeaten in league competition during his wrestling career, qualifying four times for the NCAA tournament and participating twice. He was a three-year captain in each sport. After graduation he returned to Doylestown and began his coaching career in 1969. He also founded the Doylestown High School Rugby Club in 1974 and remains its coach today. Those teams have rung up over 250 victories, were the national runners-up in 1996 and have placed third five times. For his dedication and lasting influence on wrestling, Tomlinson is presented the National Hall of Fame's "Lifetime Achievement Award" for the class of 2000.
