Jay Livziey
Jay Livziey started his varied wrestling career at Danville High School, where he graduated in 1953. After college he returned to Danville Junior high as a teacher. After two years as assistant wrestling coach, he became head coach at Danville High School in 1959. In 1965 he began to officiate wrestling which lasted for 15 years. In 1968 he was named wrestling chairman for District IV, a position he held for the next 24 years. During this time, he became known as the "Wrestling Pilot." He would pick up all the results from the Regional tournaments throughout Pennsylvania and fly them to Harrisburg. He flew through the rain, snow, ice, fog, as well as darkness of night. For 12 years he encircled the state of Pennsylvania, to make sure the results of the Regional tournaments got to the P.I.A.A. on time to get ready for the State Championships. Jay has been married to his wife, Joan, since 1959 and they have two children, Jay Todd and Jody. During his career he has been honored many times, including in 1993 when he was named Pennsylvania Ambassador of Wrestling. His diversity within his local community has truly made him a man for all seasons. He leads by example and a never tiring desire to serve and instruct others
