Dr. H Case
Sam Case has spent practically his entire adult life in the service of West Maryland College, Westminster, MD first as a student, then as an educator and administrator.
Repeated concussions suffered in football ended Case’s wrestling career after a 6-3-1 freshman campaign that saw him place 4th in the Mason Dixon conference championships. Over the next three years case volunteered as a student coach for the Green Terrors and, following graduation, became the head coach for the 1963-64 season.
After a year, Case left Westminster to coach the Johns Hopkins University wrestling team, but then returned to the Western Maryland College in 1965. He would coach the Green Terrors for the next 25 yrs. interrupted for one year when he studied at Ohio State University on a sabbatical.
His Green Terror Wrestling teams won three consecutive conference titles. His 1970 team was unbeaten in Dual Matches
Case earned his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Biology and his Master of Education in Physical Education from Western Maryland and his Doctorate in Exercise Physiology from Ohio State University, He also received a Certification in Physical Education from the University of Oslo, (Norway).
He advanced through the ranks to full professorship at Western Maryland and in 2000 was appointed provost and Dean of Faculty at the college. A fellow of the American college of Sports, Case is and accomplished speaker and noted author on a vast variety of subjects in the field of health, exercise and training.
Case a dedicated runner and has completed 25 marathons and ultra-marathons, including the JFK 50 MILE RACE (8 Times), the Iditasport 100 mile race in Alaska (3 Times) and twice Pikes Peak marathon.
