Dennis Radford
Dennis Radford is recognized for his years of dedication to the development of leadership and citizenship in young people through the sport of Wrestling.
- Coached The Dalles High School for 35 years
- Cultural exchange coach to South Africa in 1972
- Coached 10 Oregon State champions
After graduation from the University of Oregon, Coach Radford became coach at Southwestern Oregon community college for one year. The following year he became coach at The Dalles High School where he coached for the next 35 years. During his time he coach 97 district champions, 48 State place winners and 10 Oregon State champions. His high school teams consistently placed in the top eight at the state tournament. In 1999, he was named the 3A coach of the year.
His other accomplishments included being past president of the Oregon Wrestling Coaches Association as well as being a wrestling official for 20 years. He hosted six cultural exchange teams and in 1973, was the coach of the cultural exchange team that went to South Africa.
For his dedication and lasting influence on Wrestling, Dennis Radford is presented the National Wrestling Hall of Fame‘s “Lifetime Service to Wrestling” award for the class of 2000.
