Dennis Ingram
From Beaverton high school assistant coach in 1965 to Whitford and Gresham as freshman coach, Dennis Ingram was on his way to becoming one of Oregon’s most successful coaches. In 1974 Coach Ingram was named head coach at Sam Barlow high school, where over the next 20 years, his teams won 16 District and 2 state championships. His wrestlers won 68 individual Championships, 66 state place winners, including 10 runner ups and 11 state champions.
Coach Ingram had 32 of his wrestlers place in the National Collegiate Tournaments, including three national champions. In 1981 he was named the coach of the North team in the North-South All-Star meet. From 1994 to 2000 Dennis worked the Mount Hood Conference and 0SAA State Wrestling Championships, and in 2000 was the leader of a group of wrestlers going to Holland/Germany as people to people ambassadors.
For his dedication and lasting influence on wrestling, Dennis M. Ingram is presented the National Wrestling Hall of Fame‘s “Lifetime Service to Wrestling” award for the class of 2001.
