Wes Hogland started his wrestling coaching career as an assistant at Bend High School in 1953. In 1955 he moved to Molalla where he coached until his retirement in 1983. He was an international wrestling official. He was also very active in both the Cultural Exchange and Junior World Programs, serving at various times as National Cultural Exchange Chairman and Team Leader for the Junior World Team. In 1979 he was the assistant project director for the Junior World Program and in 1980 he served as the director. In 1981 he was co-director with his wife Sue. During the 1984 Olympics he acted as weight and paring master.

Wes Hogland has given a lletime of service to the youth of America through the sport of wrestling.
