Marlin "Moe" Weaver was born in Shamokin Pennsylvania and graduated from Shamokin High School in the Class of 1956.

After graduating from Emory and Henry College in 1961, he immediately began working for the Smyth County School System in Marion, Virginia. Weaver coached football for 18 years and wrestling for 13 years at Marion Senior High School. He led his wrestling teams to district and regional titles while compiling a 128-14 career record.

Weaver also worked 30 years as an official and as the commissioner of the Appalachian Wrestling officials.
