Bill Geister

Bill Geister is recognized for his years of dedication to the development of leadership and citizenship in young people through the sport of wrestling.

Bill Geister began his coaching career in Myrtle point, Oregon, where he started the wrestling program in 1956. After only five years, he led his team to a second place finish of the state championships. He then took over at Clackamas high school, where his teams had a string of 37 consecutive dual meet victories.

He organized the first Oregon team at the national duals competition and served as president of the Oregon High School Wrestling Coaches and Oregon Wrestling Associations. He also served on the Oregon Cultural exchange board of directors, coached the Oregon Exchange team to Japan and hosted six foreign teams.
