Al Muller

A graduate of Springfield College, Al Muller came to St. Paul’s in 1950 and coached baseball, basketball and football.

He started a wrestling program in 1953 an in his first four years led his team to league championships. Muller coached four Lehigh National Prep School team champions and twice his teams placed third in the national tournament.

He moved to Herricks High School in 1960 and coached the junior varsity team, before taking over the varsity team from 1962 to 1976. He coached the junior high team and assisted with the middle school team from 1976 to 1992.

In 40 years of coaching wrestling, Muller won more than 200 dual meets and his Herricks team finished second and third in the Section VIII tournament while also winning seven conference championships He coached two state champions and seven Section VIII champions

He also served as the backfield coach for the Herricks football team and was an assistant lacrosse coach. Muller also coached archery and his teams won the Section VIII championship every year that they fielded a team.
