Dan Featherston

Since 2004, Danny Featherston has served as Director of the U.S. Army Prototype Integration Facility (PIF) at Redstone Arsenal, AL. The award winning PIF is the premier rapid response capability in the U.S. Government, established to meet the most compelling and urgent technology needs of our warfighters. In this role, Danny has overall responsibility for rapid design, development, manufacture, integration, and fielding of aerospace technology for military and government systems. Further, he provides strategic vision and direction, acquisition and technology expertise, and leadership for his team of more than 1,000 employees, while executing 200+ critical projects at any time. Along with numerous personal accolades over his 30-year federal career, Danny and his PIF team are eight-time winners of the Army's Greatest Invention Award. In 2013, he was selected as the Army Small Business Program Manager of the Year. In 2016, he was selected as the U.S. Army Civilian of the Year for Redstone/Huntsville, AL and the Southern Region. Under his leadership, the PIF has twice received the Alabama Performance Excellence Award modeled after the national Malcolm Baldridge Award. As a competitor, Danny was Team Captain of the 1981 Grissom High School Wrestling Team and individually finished 3rd in the state that year and 5th place in 1980. As a youth and assistant high school coach, Danny had many successful wrestlers, including 11 who went on to win individual Alabama State High School Championships. As an AHSAA referee (from 1988-2013), Danny officiated 22 Alabama State Tournaments and 26 Alabama Sectional Tournaments. He also represented the state of Alabama as a referee in two High School National Tournaments. Danny and his wife Brandy have four children: Will, Jenna, Charisa, and Juliette.
