- Native of Rome, GA ;1970 graduate of West Rome High School - 3X team captain, Area champion
- Served four years in the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of Sergeant/ E5 (1970-74); stationed at Whiteman AFB, a nuclear missile base. Received Vietnam Service Pin and Certificate of Honor for service to his country during the Vietnam era
- Studied Business Management at Floyd College and Univ. of West Georgia
- Studied Architecture at Southern Technical College
- 37 years of service as one of the Georgia High School Association's (GHSA) most outstanding wrestling officials (1976-2013); Worked in the Rome Area Wrestling Officials Association and Metro Atlanta Wrestling Officials Association
- Officiated in over 50 GHSA state tournaments - many times doing multiple tournaments in the same year; Officiated countless regular-season dual meets, regular-season tournaments and GHSA area/region tournaments
- Served in several leadership positions for Rome Area Wrestling Officials Association
- Experienced veteran official served as mentor to numerous young men new to officiating
- Organized and coached Rome area (Coosa) youth wrestling club that produced numerous eventual high school state champions
- Volunteered/donated countless hours to Rome area schools for fundraising tournaments, wrestle-offs, clinics for parents, fans and wrestlers
- Served youth in the Rome area as pony league baseball coach (14 years) and peewee football coach for the Rome Boys Club (6 years)
- Retired maintenance mechanic for Georgia Power/Southern Company
- Resides in Rome with wife, Donna; adult children Jennifer, Chris
