Tim is a 1966 graduate of Dubuque (IA) High School where he lettered in wrestling, track and cross country. He went on to attend Augustana (IL) College, where he was a 1970 graduate. Collegiate honors earned during his college years included being a two-time NCAA College Division All-American (5th at 167 in 1969, 3rd at 167 in 1970), two-time CCIW Conference Champion, Team Captain (1969 and 1970), Knut Ericson Award for the Augustana senior athlete with the highest GPA and the winner of an NCAA Scholarship for graduate study. Tim served as the head wrestling coach at Augustana from 1972-1975, taking the team to the Conference Championship in 1972, 1974 and 1975. He coached 21 NCAA qualifiers in those four years, as well as three NCAA All-Americans.

Tim became an IHSA Wrestling Official in 1992 and is still officiating today. He has worked 23 IHSA State Championships, 11 Individual State Championships, eight Dual Team State Championships, and four State Championships as the Coordinator of Officials. He has also officiated 33 IHSA Individual and Dual Team Sectional tournaments and 25 IHSA Regional tournaments.

Tim served on the IHSA Wrestling Advisory Board from 2003-2006 and has been the IHSA Wrestling Rules Interpreter and Clinician since 2005. He was also an IESA State Finals Official for five years. Honors Tim has received include IWCOA Wrestling Official of the Year in 2002 and 2010, the National Federation Illinois Wrestling Official of the Year in 2006, IWCOA Hall of Fame inductee in 2008, the Dubuque Senior High School Hall of Fame and the Augustana College Hall of Fame.

Tim is the President of College and Applied Marketing Technologies, Inc. He and his wife Cherie have two children, daughter Kelley and son Nate. Tim's father was a collegiate wrestler, a high school coach and a wrestling official whose picture appeared on the cover of the 1938 NCAA Wrestling Rules Guide.
