Roy Fennimore

A 1962 graduate of Triton Regional High School, Roy has been involved in all aspects of wrestling. As a varsity wrestling coach at Williamstown High School from 1967 - 1973, and won the conference championship in 1973. As a wrestler he was a two time Olympic Conference Champion, and won a NJSIAA District Title in 1961 under Coach Al Paolone at Triton Regional H.S. in Runnemede, New Jersey. After receiving his bachelor degree at Tusculum College in Greenville, Tennessee, he returned to New Jersey to coach wrestling, soccer, tennis and football. As a tennis coach he won eleven conference championships, Group II and Group III state titles. Roy was a wrestling official for 30 Years (1976 - 2006), officiating in Region 7 and 8 for 27 years. He truly understands all facets of wrestling and is one of the most respected officials, working the State Tournament for 17 years including the prestigious State Finals. He traveled across the state to officiate some of the most competitive meets including Phillipsburg/Highland, and Pemberton/Paulsboro. One of Roy's most memorable state matches was to officiate Damian Covington of Overbrook vs. Pat Lynch of Ocean City. Some of Roy's accolades include Wrestling Official of the Year in South Jersey 1987, and he was the recipient of the prestigious Richard Mirshak Award in 2006. As a representative and promoter of amateur wrestling in New Jersey, Roy Fennimore distinguished himself as an able ambassador of the sport. During the 1980's Roy was inducted in both the Triton High School and the Williamstown Hall of Fame. Mr. Fennimore received his Masters Degree from Glassboro State College (Rowan) in 1971. In 2001 he was named Tri-County Athletic Director of the Year. He retired from education in 2008 after 42 years of service and currently resides in Williamstown, NJ with his wife Kathy Eley. Congratulations to Roy Fennimore on being inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, Class of 2017.
