Mike Chastain
Occupation: Author of Non-Fiction Books: Creation of Evolution- based on science. Mike is Making a Movie: "Blind Faith" by Billy Baldwin Mike is a very unique individual, has a very positive outlook on every aspect of life, an inspiration to others. When Mike was 5 years old he was shot in the eye with an arrow, he lost all sight in that eye, as he grew older he was losing site in his other eye because of the eye disease Lacoma, within 9 years, at the age of 14 he became totally blind. Mike was put in a class room in the Royal Oak Schools, where he learned to read and type Braile, from 1st grade through 61h grade. Mike attended Baker Middle School in Troy, where he lived. He decided to go out for the wrestling team. Mike enrolled in Troy H.S. where he flourished as an outstanding student in the classroom along within the wrestling room. Mike also became a very good football player, he was an outstanding offensive center. Mike was recruited by Chick Sherwood at Central Michigan University, where Mike had another outstanding career in wrestling from 1971-1975. Mike earned his degree in 1976 from CMU with Honors. Mike had a great career wrestling, he excelled in the sport of Greco-Roman Wrestling. Mike wrestled for 3 different clubs, "Michigan Wrestling Club", "Rino Wrestling Club", "Pioneer Wrestling Club"( Oakland University). Mike wrestled mostly at 198 lb weight class: State of Michigan Champion from 1971-1980 in Greco, placed at the National Greco-Roman Championships from 1971-1980, runner up in 1973 and 1974, Junior World Champion in 1972. Mike worked with Kids programs 1976-1980. Wrestling assistant coach at Troy Athens H.S.19 77-80. Mike is an inspiration to everyone he meets. Mike never considered himself handicapped, takes life as a challenge and overcame all obstacles in his life. Mikes favorite saying: Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts !
