Wife: Jean-Children: Rudy Jr, Guy, Shari, Kelly, Sofie, Jason, James Retired - worked for: Ford Motor Company, New York Carpet, Home Depot Wrestling Clubs: Taha Grapplers 1955-1957, Ford Wrestling Club 1958-1961, Hazel Park Recreation Club 1962-1964. Michigan Wrestling Club, wrestled, coached , one of the founding members, 1965-1988. Also Mayor Daly Club in Chicago. Rudy was instrumental in the success of the Michigan Wrestling Club by promoting Greco Roman and coaching so many successful wrestlers. The biggest accomplishment was 1984 Greco Roman Olympic Champion Steve Fraser. 6 Time Greco Roman National Champion: 1962, 64, 66, 67, 69,1970 National Greco Roman Outstanding Wrestler 1969 Captain of US World Team 1969 US World Team 3 Times, placed 4th twice 1962 - one of the first African Americans to wrestle for the United States at a World Championships. Participated in Olympic Trials in 1964 and many Cultural Exchanges Quite an honor for Rudy to accomplish so much, goes to show what great coaching can do for an athlete. Rudy met Sofie Taha while they both worked at the Ford Rouge Plant. Two of the coaches for Rudy where Kahlil & Sofie Taha, Olympic Champions from Lebanon . They where the secret behind Rudy's success. Rudy also raised 7 children with Jean ( Sweets) during his competing years. Rudy Williams was an inspiration to others to expand their heights in wrestling by promoting Greco Roman Wrestling in Michigan and through out the country. 1965-1988. Rudy Williams is very respected in the wrestling fraternity, Rudy is an outstanding example of quality character in an individual. Rudy is held in high esteem by his peers and his outstanding family.
