Jonathan Viruet

Jonathan Viruet wrestled at Springfield Central High School under Coach Darby McLaughlin and finished his career with a record of 194-20 with 104 pins.

Jonathan was a four-time sectional champion and a four-time Division 1 finalist and three-time Division 1 champion. He was a four-time all-state placer and three-time all-state champion while also being a three-time New England place-winner and a two-time New England champion. He was also a four-time Lowell Holiday finalist and three-time Lowell Holiday champion, and a two-time Eastern States finalist and a one-time Eastern States champion.

On the national level, Jonathan became a USA Folkstyle All-American in Iowa, and a two-time National High School Coaches Association All-American and an NHSCA Junior National champion in Virginia.

Under the tutelage of Coach Anibal Nieves, Jonathan became a two-time USA Greco-Roman All-American in Fargo, North Dakota.

He was named Wrestler of the Year and Athlete of the Year by MassLive three years in a row.

As a student-athlete Jonathan maintained a 4.2 GPA during his entire high school career, completing AP courses during his junior and senior years, and being a member of the National Honor Society and the National Math Honor Society.

Jonathan's hard work on the mat and in school earned him an opportunity to attend Brown University and wrestle on their NCAA Division I team.
