Norman Palovcsik

Norm Palovcsik was a 3X District 9 Champ, and a Regional and State Champion (1968) at Clearfield High School, compiling an impressive career record of 62-3. He was a Penn State Nittany Lion for 4 years (1969-73) placing third in the EIWA in 1971. Norm was head coach at Everett (3 years, 30-13-1) Youngstown State (4 years, 40-25, 7 All-Americans), Penn State Altoona ( 3 years, 25-8, 3 Junior College All-Americans), and finished his coaching career at Hazleton (3 years, 22-17). Norm achieved his greatest renown by his efforts to serve, publicize and promote the sport of wrestling. He was joined in 1981by the late Jim Butler (fellow 2014 inductee) and the late Russ Olenick to revive the Pennsylvania Wrestling Round-Up, a publication still in existence 31 years later. Since 1983, he's been a PWCA executive board member, responsible for the PWCA Hall of Fame. Norm is a past President of NWCA, and is a member of the AAU Wrestling Executive Board for media relations. He is a member of the Central Wrestling Conference, District 9, District 6 and PWCA Halls of Fame. He is the organizer and the longtime tournament director of the King of the Mountain Wrestling Tournament. Norm has three daughters, Jill, Gail and Amy (deceased).
