Ron Jackson

Ron Jackson began his wrestling career in 1963, at Douglass Senior High School Under the tutor ledge of Coach Artie Williams. He graduated from Douglas in 1966, where he was co-captain of the division championship team. Upon graduating from high school he started his professional career at the Social Security Administration main headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland. In 1981 Ron started his coaching career as Head Coach of Westside Wrestling Club. He began his affiliation with the Maryland Junior Wrestling League in 1983 where his coached several kids to State Titles. Beginning in 1987, Westside wrestling club merged with McKim Knights wrestling program where he still currently is the Head Coach. He has served in numerous capacities on the MJWL board and currently serves as Senior Vice President. For the past 15 years, he has served as director of the District 9 (Baltimore City) Wrestling Tournament. In 1995 he received the "Sportsmanship Award from the Maryland Wrestling Officials Association. Starting in 1996 the MHWL honored Coach Jackson by naming the "Sportsmanship Award Cup" After him, 'The Jackson cup" which is given each year to the team who shows great sportsmanship throughout the wrestling season, He has Received two mayor's Citations for working with the inner-city youth. Ron also was recognized by the MPSSAA receiving its "Service to Wrestling Award" in 2013. Throughout his 33 year coaching career, Ron has instilled three fundamental principles his student athletes live by; Preparation, Perseverance, and persistence which has helped produce 34 MJWL Champions, 24 Maryland / Virginia Champions, and 2 High School National champions as head Coach with the McKim wrestling Program. In all, he has been coaching and developing inner-city youth using wrestling as the steppingstone to opening doors, pursuing higher educational opportunities and helping student athlete matriculate to elite private and public schools in Maryland, with the support of Father Flannigan's Boys town in Nebraska. Ron has also provided a risk youth a second chance at life in a more structured and nurturing community. Coach Jack's impact on Maryland 'Baltimore City" youth through wrestling is unequalled. His imprint has touched the lives of countless your transforming them to productive citizens
