William Vail

For more than three decades, former world-class freestyle wrestler Bill Vail has continued to give the sport as a volunteer coach, team-leader and administrator. Bill wrestled for Jim Craig at Oak Lawn High School and placed 2nd in State in 1967. Bill served as director of the 1983 Junior Freestyle World Championships in Oak Lawn; the assistant completion director of the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee; administrator and coach for the 1992 Olympic Team; and competition manager for the 1996 Atlantic Committee for the Olympic Games. Bill has also volunteered as leader and coach for Olympic, World Cup and World Championship competition, as a member of the U.S. Olympic Committee and as chairman of the finance committee for USA Wrestling. He was highly involved in Chicago's bid for the 2016 Olympic Games. He serves as treasurer of World Sport Chicago, an independent, non-profit organization that supports positive values and leadership through sport. A graduate of the University of Northern Colorado, Bill is a licensed engineer, educator and a real estate salesperson. As Senior Vice President of the U.S. Equities, he provides clients with expertise in asset planning and property and facility management on commercial properties from high-rise office buildings to sports centers tor residential facilities. Currently, he directly supervises the management and operations for clients such as First Bank University Center, the nation's largest multi-institutional student residence, and Harold Washington Library Center, the largest Municipal library in the United States. Bill is also actively involved with BOMA Chicago and is currently chairman of the codes committee.
