Stan Yazawa attended Luhainaluna High School in Lahaina, located on the island of Maui, Hawaii. While in high school Stan was very active as an athlete in football, baseball and track in addition to being the Student Body President. Upon his graduation from high school in 1961, he attended the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse. Stan's first and only teaching job has been as an English instructor at Denmark High School. In his tenure at Denmark, he has coached both football and wrestling. In 28 years as wrestling coach, his teams have won 9 conference championships and in the process he has established himself as the most successful coach in the Olympian Conference history. His teams have a dual meet record of 257-74-4. The young athletes under his tutelage have won a total of 82 conference, 70 regional and 19 sectional championships. Stan is one of the most highly regarded wrestling coaches in Northeastern Wisconsin. As one of his coaching peers commented about him, "People who know and work with him see him as a gentle, soft spoken, and caring individual. Stan is a great example of what a coach should be. I am proud of my association with him and the influence he's had on my life."
