Kenneth Johnson
Kenneth Johnson is the proud father of Kenneth Johnson, Jr and Shanetta Johnson. Kenny or "Coach J" began his coaching career in 1982 at Southdade Senior High School where, in 1983 his team finished second in the state. He transferred to Miami Southridge where he remains. He was also an Official for Miami Dade County from 1985 - 1987. More than just a coach at Southridge; Kenny has been a role model for the student athletes. Many of these wrestlers consider him a father figure. His passion for the sport and for developing his athletes goes beyond the mat. He strives to develop them into productive and prominent individuals in society. His patience and work ethics along with his experience in coaching and mentoring these young men and women has given him an advantage in gaining trust and respect. He has gained that same respect from his peers and the community as well. He was recognized as Assistant Coach of the Year in 1998 & 1999 by the National Wrestling Coaches Association, received the Wrestling U.S.A. Assistant Coach of the Year in 2002 Honorable Mention. Kenny served as the USA Team Florida Greco Coach and during his high school career has coached over forty state finalists, 25 of them being state champions. Because of his Lifetime Service to the sport or wrestling, we are honored the have Kenneth Johnson inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame & Museum through the Florida Chapter.
