John Major
Captain of Oakland University's first wrestling team and their first NCAA qualifier, John Major has made an impact on the mat and from the corner coaching.
His coaching resume includes stops at Oakland University, Birmingham Brother Rice, Hillsdale High School and Reading High School. John also served as a coach for the USA Michigan Junior National Team in the 1980s. John has had a profound influence as a coach on 29 Michigan high school champions, 97 state-place winners, and 12 high school All-Americans. He has an innate ability to engage and help them to reach their full potential.
He is a member of the National Wrestling Coaches Association, serves as the past vice-president of the Michigan Wrestling Association and has served numerous terms on the Michigan Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame board.
