Joseph McFarland, MD

Joe graduated from the University of Oregon in 1963 with a degree in general science and a 1967 received a doctor of medicine degree from the University of Oregon medical school. After his 1967-68 internship at Saint Paul Ramsey Hospital in Minnesota, Joe entered the US Army, serving as a general medical officer and medical advisor in Vietnam (1968 to 69, where he was awarded the bronze star), General medical officer at Irwin Army Hospital in Fort Riley, Kansas, and at Tripler Army hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii. As a national board-certified orthopedic surgeon and Fellow in the American Academy of orthopedic surgeons, Dr. McFarland’s distinguished career includes service in hospitals and clinics across the country. In addition, he has served as on-site physician for many high school and college athletic competitions (Wrestling, football, basketball) in the greater Portland area.
