Steve Woods is recognized for his years of dedication to the development of leadership and citizenship in young people through the sport of wrestling

After finishing his OSU wrestling career with an undefeated senior season and a PAC-8 title at 137 lbs, in 1968, Steve entered the US Air Force where he continued competing in Air Force and All-Service tournaments in Europe. Upon leaving the Air Force in 1972, Steve returned to finish his degree in Education at OSU, where he served as assistant to Dale Thomas. In 1973, Steve became head wrestling coach at. Union HS, then moved to Estacada HS in 1976, where his teams won the 1977 state team title and the 1978 state runner-up trophy. Steve was named 1977 State HS Coach-vof-the-Year. His wrestlers won over twenty individual state HS tities. He later served as Estacada HS Vice-Principal/Athletic Director/Principal, Estacada Interim Superintendent of Schools, and Oregon School Boards Association Policy Analyst. Although now retired, Steve continues to volunteer as assistant coach at Estacada HS and is Vice-Chair of the Estacada School Board.
