Jim Gadberry

Jim Gadberry is recognized for his years of dedication to the development of leadership and citizenship in young people through the sport of wrestling.

  • Coached for 36 years at five Oregon High Schools
  • Won 1984 Oregon High School team title
  • 1984 Oregon 3A Coach-of-the-Year
  • 1985 Portland Wrestling Officials' Coach-of-the-Year
  • Coached six individual state champions

A graduate of Brookings-Harbor HS and Southern Oregon College, Jim coached wrestling for 36 years at five Oregon high schools (Milwaukie, Pendleton, Canby, Nestucca and McMinnville). His 1984 Milwaukie team won the 3A State team title after which he was named Coach of-the-Year. Jim coached six individual State champions, six runners-up and an additional 31 placers. Sixteen his wrestlers competed at the collegiate level. He was the team leader for 1985 Cultural Exchange team to Japan and in 1997 to South Africa. Jim served as director of the Oregon Cultural Exchange Board from 1988 to 1998.
